REPOST: Triana - Sombra Y Luz (edición remasterizada de 2005) / (2005 remastered re-release) (FLAC + MP3 320 kbps)

Año de publicación: 1979

Subgénero: Rock andaluz, sinfónico.

Comentarios:

Year of release: 1979

Sub-genre: Andalusian rock (symphonic rock + flamenco), symphonic.

Comments:

This album has alredy been posted here, but it was at 160 kbps rip. This time, a lossless rip (in FLAC format) as well as a 320 kbps rip have been uploaded.

Remastered re-release on digipack, 2005. Among all the releases of this album, this one has the better sound (even better than the 2002 re-release in jewel case).

Third album. With "Sombra Y Luz", the band finally established themselves, sold about 300.000 copies of this album, began to play to massive audiences and andalusian rock (a mix between symphonic rock and flamenco) became a fashion overnight. Also, "Sombra Y Luz" marked what most fans believe it to be the golden age of Triana, or the golden trilogy. On their next album, "Un Encuentro" the band shifted to a more commercial sound.

REPOST: Goma - 14 Abril (reedición remasterizada) / (Remastered re-release) (FLAC + MP3 320 kbps)

This album has already been posted here before, but it was a 160 kbps rip. This time, a lossless rip (in FLAC format) as well as a 320 kbps rip have been uploaded.

One shot supergroup formed by Antonio Rodríguez (drums, ex-
Smash), Pepe Sánchez (sax, ex-Gong (Spain)), and Manuel Rodríguez (guitar) and Alberto Toribio (keyboards, both ex- Chicle, Caramelos Y Pipas). I don't know if José Lagares (bass) ever played in a band before. After the breakup of Goma, some of its ex-members joined andalusian bands such as Imán Califato Independiente, Cal and Veneno.

Not to be confused with the Galicia-based band

Año de publicación: 1973

Subgénero: Flamenco rock (no rock andaluz), sinfónico, pop.

Comentarios:

Carmen was, basically, an american band with heavy flamenco influences. The reasons for them to get a slot in this blog can be found here.

Remastered re-release. Unlike the reissues of the band's other two albums (Dancing On A Cold Wind and
The Gypsies), this one does not include any bonus tracks. I've uploaded a FLAC rip (lossless, clone copy of the original CD) as well as another rip in MP3 format at 320 kbps.

Pau Riba - Amarga Crisi

ENGLISH:

Year of release: 1981

Sub-genre: Psych. With mediterranean touches and lots of spanish guitar. Lyrics in catalan (a language spoken in Catalonia and Andorra; Pau Riba is catalan).

Comments:

The following description has been taken from Pau Riba's official website:

"The title of this album should be red from the sixth letter forwards, therefore it means "A Cris I A Marga..." *. It is dedicated to two sisters somehow simbolized in the sleeve and back of the album by a chrysanthemum and a margaret. It was the first album recorded at the hotel-studio Ibiza Sound, and Brian Humphies (of Pink Floyd's Ummagumma fame) took over as the engineer. I made the album with whom I considered the best musicians I had played with throughout my career. They did it very well but their styles had little to do between... and the result was far from what I expected. PDI re-released the album on CD in 1993."

(*): A pun that makes no sense in english. Amarga Crisi means Bitter Crisis in catalan. And "A Cris I A Marga" means "To Cris And To Marga" or "To Chris And Marga".

Carlos Guirao - Bajo Una Tormenta

Año de publicación: 2009

Subgénero: Electrónica/espacial/sintetista. Instrumental.

Year of release: 2009

Sub-genre: Electronic/spacey/synthetist. Instrumental. More modern and accessible than the rest of his output.

Comments:
Carlos Guirao is an ex-member and co-founder of the electronic duo Neuronium. In 1982 he left the project, leaving it on the hands of the other half of the duo, Michel Huygen. That same year, Guirao releases Revelation, his only solo album until 2008. It sounds a lot like anything Neuronium were doing up to that point. The album has never been released on CD.

In the mid 80's,
Guirao gives shape to Programa, another duo that released two albums (being the first available here). Little is known about his recording activities since then; however, in July 2008 a visitor let me know of his return to activity with the album Pesadillas De Un Ser Viviente (which Guirao did not give any promotion to, and distributed through internet for free). For what I could read on internet back then, Guirao was suffering of some kind of disease and was under chemotherapy treatment. Shortly after that, I found a very interesting thread (in spanish) of which the own Carlos takes part of, and unfortunately the rumours are true. Luckily, he's getting better.

During his convalescence,
Guirao worked on his third solo album (released just one year after Pesadillas De Un Ser Viviente), and its title is an allusion to the conditions under which he had to make it ("Bajo Una Tormenta" means "Under A Storm"). In spite of this, the sound of this album differs from its predecessors (more info in the sub-genre field).

Thanks to
Carlos Guirao for bringing his music unselfishly, and to Mindchild for fetching me the record and the scan.

UPDATE: It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that Carlos Guirao finally lost his battle with cancer last January 17th. Rest in peace, wherever you are.
