Sisa - Qualsevol Nit Pot Sortir El Sol (reedición remasterizada) / (Remastered re-release) (FLAC + MP3 320 kbps)

Year of release: 1975

Sub-genre: Psych, singer-songwriter.
Lyrics in catalan (a language spoken in Catalonia and Andorra; Sisa is catalan).

Comments:

Even though Sisa never did progressive rock strictly speaking, he's a household name of the catalan music scene of the last forty years. He played in the legendary, unlabelable band Música Dispersa, he's friends with Pau Riba, and collaborated with different catalan progressive bands throughout his career.

"Qualsevol Nit Pot Sortir El Sol" is Sisa's, second solo effort and is generally regarded as his masterpiece. The title track is a timeless classic of catalan rock (progressive and not progressive).

Sisa's first album, Orgia, saw the light of day in 1971, after the breakup of Música Dispersa. It took four years for the "galactic" (as the artist labeled himself) to come up with this second effort; in the meantime, he worked as a waiter, office worker, book seller, TV seller, fruit recollector in Lérida, and spent some time in Holland and Menorca (all this away from the music scene). It wasn't until de opening of the legendary concert room Zeleste that he decided to resume his musical activity. The result was this classic album.

The picture shown in the cover is the Museo Nacional de Arte de Cataluña (Catalonia National Art Museum) in Barcelona. What you see before it (that pink thing) is the colour water fountain or dancing water fountain, a much attended tourist attraction. During some days of the week, at night, they play classical music and change the colour of the underwater spotlights that point at the water streams, as well as its intensity, making them look coloured-like. It's pretty eye catching. The library I borrowed this CD from to rip it is located a couple of blocks from there.

Available in FLAC format as well as MP3 at 320 kbps.

REPOST: Neuronium - Chromium Echoes (FLAC + MP3 320 kbps)

Año de publicación: 1982

Subgénero: Electrónica/espacial/sintetista. Instrumental.

Comentarios:

This album has alredy been posted here before, but it was at 192 kbps rip. This time, a lossless rip (in FLAC format) as well as a 320 kbps rip have been uploaded.Last album with Carlos Guirao in the line-up. Every Neuronium album afterwards has been the work of Michel Huygen. By the way, if you happen to speak spanish, on this thread the own Carlos explains the reasons why he left the group. If you do not, he says, essentially, that it was a matter of "ego, ego and more ego" and that Chromium Echoes had a lot of tension (he doesn't explain if it was the album itself or the atmosphere in which it was recorded...) that he didn't like at all. He also says that Michel had a one hour TV program at the time and asked him to help him out; Carlos agreed and they rehearsed for a few weeks, and everything was ok. The TV program went fine, but when they went back to the rehearsal room and he set up all his equipment, Michel told him that he didn't need him anymore.

UPDATE: It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that Carlos Guirao finally lost his battle with cancer last January 17th. Rest in peace, wherever you are.

Dedo - Momento Cero (FLAC + MP3 320 kbps)

Año de publicación: 2003

Subgénero: Experimental, pop.

Comentarios:

Dedo was a band formed by Victor Nubla after Macromassa's indefinite hiatus (their last album, Puerta Heliogàbal, was released in 1997). The project was active between 2000 and the 31th of January of 2009.

"Momento Cero" is the first of the three albums released by the band, and its sound differs much from that of the rest of
Nubla's work; on this debut, we can find almost-pop songs such as "Ha Llegado El Frío" or the title song (for which a video was shot). This album is, doubtless, the most accesible one of Victor Nubla's discography.

A concise biography (in spanish) and some reviews of this recently deceased project can be found here.
