Existen dos ediciones en CD de este disco: la primera, en CD individual a cargo del sello CBS/Sony, y otra incluída en el doble recopilatorio "Sus Tres Álbumes En Discos CBS (1979-1982)", publicado por el sello RamaLama. Desconozco su calidad, aunque teniendo en cuenta que RamaLama siempre remasteriza sus ediciones, es de suponer que la calidad de sonida sea superior respecto a la edición estándar de CBS/Sony. Two different editions on CD of this album exist: the first one is packaged as an individual CD and released on the CBS/Sony label, while the other one is sandwiched on a 2 CD compilation called "Sus Tres Álbumes En Discos CBS (1979-1982)" ("Their Three Albums On CBS Records (1979-1982)"). This one was released on the RamaLama label. I haven't heard it, so I can't compare, but anyway, considering this label remasters everything they release, this version is meant to sound better than the standard CBS/Sony edition. Primer disco tras cuatro años de silencio. "Caravana Española" se diferencia de los tres primeros discos del grupo por, básicamente, tres aspectos: un sorprendente acercamiento al hard rock (género al que se aferrarán en producciones posteriores), una pobrísima calidad de grabación, y la utilización de drum machines en vez de percusión real. El grupo cambió de sello discográfico para este álbum, y, aparentemente, no contaba con un gran presupuesto (a juzgar por la calidad de sonido, la percusión y la portada del disco). Comments:

First album after a four year absence. The main difference between Caravana Española and its predecessors lies on, basically, three aspects: a surprising approach to hard rock (a genre the group will stick to in following releases), a very poor sound quality and the use of drum machines instead of real percussion. The band changed their record label for the release of this album, and it looks like they had a very low budget (judging by the sound quality, the use of drum machines and the cover art). Secta Sónica - Discografía completa / Complete discography

Secta Sónica fue un grupo compuesto por diversos y alternados músicos de la escena progresiva catalana de los 70. Parte del rock facturado en esas latitutes fue bautizado como "Rock Laietano" (algunos ejemplos son la Compànyia Elèctrica Dharma, Iceberg u Oriol Tramvia). Todos ellos frecuentaban la mítica sala de conciertos Zeleste (ahora difunta, aunque después reabrió rebautizada como Razzmatazz, pero con otros dueños y, según se dice, otra atmósfera), verdadero emblema de aquella escena. En algún momento de su trayectoria, por las filas de Secta Sónica pasó el mítico Gato Pérez.

Secta Sónica was formed by many and alternate members of the catalan prog scene of the 70's. A fraction of the music produced there (Catalonia, east-northern Spain) used to be called "Rock Laietano" (think of Compànyia Elèctrica Dharma, Iceberg or Oriol Tramvia, to name a few). They were all regulars at the now difunct Zeleste club (it reopened its doors under the name Razzmatazz, albeit under a different management and, as some people describe it, with a different atmosphere as well). The club was hugely emblematic of that scene. At some point, Gato Pérez played in Secta Sónica.

Rivendel - LA TELARAÑA The Meaning & L'ART BRUT

Rivendel fue un grupo de sólo dos discos: Manifesto y éste. Ambos distan mucho del otro, pese a las obvias influencias propias de los grupos neo prog. A diferencia del primero, LA TELARAÑA, The Meaning & L'ART BRUT se compone de muchos temas y muy cortos (que conforman tres suites de 13, 29 y 9 minutos respectivamente: la primera con letras en castellano, la segunda en inglés y la tercera en francés). La otra gran diferencia son las voces, que en esta ocasión se reparten entre el cantante del primer disco y una soprano. El sonido en general también dista con respecto a Manifesto, en parte gracias a la batería. Suena más real, aunque no más natural. Enlace en comentarios.

During their lifetime, Rivendel released only two albums: Manifesto and this one. They're both pretty unlike, albeit the obvious influences (present on every neo prog band). Unlike the the first album, LA TELARAÑA, The Meaning & L'ART BRUT consists of many short tracks, which make three suites: the first one (LA TELARAÑA, "the spider web"), with lyrics in spanish, clocks at 13 minutes. The second, in english, clocks at 28'. The last (L'Art Brut), in french, is only 9 minutes long. The other big difference lies on the vocals. This time, there's a second singer, a female soprano, as well as the singer on the first album. The overall sound is very different too, thanks, to some extent, to the drums. They sound more real, but not more natural. Link in comments.
