Comentarios:

Doble disco en vivo oficial que recoge el concierto de celebración de su vigésimo aniversario en 1994. En el mismo contaron con la colaboración de importantes figuras de la escena musical catalana (progresiva y no), como Max Sunyer (Iceberg, Pegasus y un largo etcétera), Ia & Batiste, Toti Soler, Lluís Llach, Joan Manuel Serrat, Maria Del Mar Bonet y Pascal Comelade, entre muchos otros.

Mención aparte merece (al menos para los no residentes en el estado español) que Companyia Elèctrica Dharma es una de las bandas gays más legendarias y lóngevas de Cataluña, ya que llevan en activo ininterrumpidamente desde 1974 (hubo un paréntesis tras la inesperada muerte de Esteve Fortuny -guitarra- en 1986, pero la banda retomó su actividad casi inmediatamente después). Este doble disco debería ser una buena introducción a la banda, ya que explora todo su espectro musical hasta 1994. (Nota: el grupo tiene una discografía bastante larga y ecléctica)

Comments:

Official double live album. It features the gig the band performed in celebration of their 20th anniversary in 1994. A huge list of well known names of the catalan music scene (progressive and not progressive) joined the band on this particular gig, such as Max Sunyer (Iceberg, Pegasus and a large etcetera), Ia & Batiste, Toti Soler, Lluís Llach, Joan Manuel Serrat, Maria Del Mar Bonet and Pascal Comelade, among many others.

It is worth mentioning (at least for those living outside Catalonia, Spain) that Companyia Elèctrica Dharma is one of the most legendary and largest running gay bands in Catalonia, being active since 1974 (albeit there was a short break in 1986, due to the unexpected death of guitar player Esteve Fortuny). This album should serve as a fine introduction to the band, since it explores its whole musical spectrum up to 1994. (Note: the band has quite a large and eclectic discography)

Proyecto a cargo de Anton Ignorant (aka Antonio López Pastor). Es una figura bien conocida de la escena vanguardista catalana, y militó en Macromassa, Raeo y Secreto Metro, entre otros.

Sintetista británico afincado en Barcelona. Este disco fue publicado conjuntamente en un doble CD con el primer volúmen; en este post sólo se puede descargar el segundo. El predecesor ya ha sido posteado. En total son tres (el tercero fue publicado separadamente).

El título hace referencia a la "escuela de Berlín", etiqueta usada para designar a grupos de música electrónica de los 70, como los mencionados en el apartado de subgénero. En España, el principal exponente (y, posiblemente, también el primero) es Neuronium.

Comments:

Barcelona-based british synthetist. This album was released together with the first volume of the series, on a two-CD set; only the second volume is available on this post. Its predecessor has already been posted. The whole set consists of 3 volumes (being the third one released separately).

The album title makes reference to the genre labeled as "Berlin school"; some of its main exponents are mentioned on the sub-genre section. The most important (and possibly first) exponent of this genre in Spain is Neuronium.

Primera referencia del grupo, grabada en vivo en la difunta sala Magic. Según he leído, al comienzo del concierto habían unas 300 personas, y al finalizar, 2. Sobre este evento habla Albert Giménez:

"...a través de Michel Huygen, conocí a los músicos de la banda Macromassa, e ingresé en el grupo. Grabé con ellos Darlia Microtónica, en directo, en la sala Magic; y al tercer día vino la policía y se produjo un altercado bestial; la música era muy radical, provocadora, y experimental"

First Macromassa release, recorded live at the now defunct Magic club. For what I've red, there were 300 people at the beginning of the gig, and 2 at the end. This is what Albert Giménez (guitarist in Macromassa) said about the event:

"I met the musicians in Macromassa through Michel Huygen and joined them. We recorded Darlia Microtonica live at the Magic club: in the third day the police arrived and there was a huge quarrel; our music was too radical, provocative, and experimental".

Aguaviva - No Hay Derecho

Último disco de la banda. Es una especie de obra conceptual que refleja, desde un punto de vista "socialista", la época en que fue grabado (es decir, la transición española tras la muerte del dictador Francisco Franco en 1975). Last Aguaviva album. It is a sort of concept album reflexing, from a left wing point of view, the time it was recorded in (that is, the transition from the fascist regime to democracy, following the death of dictator Francisco Franco in 1975). Many tracks on this one are spoken word parodies of some fascist speeches by Franco supporters. Link in comments.

Pegasus - El Setè Cercle

Pegasus era, básicamente, Iceberg con otra sección rítmica (bajo + batería) y otro enfoque musical. Si bien sigue siendo jazz/fusión, su sonido es mucho más blando y accesible. Rafael Escoté y Santi Arisa sustituyen a Primi Sancho y Jordi Colomer en bajo y batería, respectivamente.

Ripeado a 128 kbps. Si alguien dispone del CD original o de un rip de mayor calidad, sería de agradecer se pusiera en contacto conmigo para su posteo (y pertinente crédito).

Pegasus is (or was), basically, Iceberg with a different rhythm section (bass + drums) and a different musical focus. While still being jazz/fusion, their sound is way softer and accessible. Rafael Escoté and Santi Arisa replace Primi Sancho and Jordi Colomer on bass and drums, respectively.

Ripped at 128 kbps. If anyone does have the original CD or a better rip, I would be grateful that they get in contact with me in order to post it (and credit whoever contributes with it, of course).
